Pair of Cloisonné Vases Guardian Lions with Brocade Sphere

Description

Elegant pair of cloisonné vases with a turquoise Jingtai Blue background, a cerulean shade linked to the Ming imperial tradition. The neck features brass edges and a rich Cloud Scroll (Yúnwén) pattern, within which the Guardian Lion/Foo Dog is placed. The shoulder is decorated with rectangular lappets and transitions to Fish Scale (Yúlínwén). The body displays four Foo Dogs in dialogue with the brocade Sphere (Xiu Qiu), wrapped in silk ribbons and a dense cloud pattern. The base echoes the lappets and Fish Scale with a visible brass-edged border. At the bottom, a red Zhuanshu seal mark.
